Our Inspiration

The OTIS Foundation was inspired by Judy Burley (1963 - 2000).
Judy was a teacher with a passion for social justice who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 29.
She had a vision to deliver the peace, nurturing and comfort she found in nature to others faced with a similar challenge.

About Us

We are a small but rapidly expanding not-for-profit organisation delivering tangible assistance at a grass roots level to Australians from all backgrounds and all walks of life.

We operate without discrimination, with a focus on supporting those living with breast cancer.

About Breast Cancer *

  • Australian women have a 1 in 9 lifetime risk of developing breast cancer
  • The risk of developing breast cancer increases with age
  • The average age of first diagnosis of breast cancer in women is 60 years
  • 75 per cent of new cases of breast cancer develop in women over the age of 50
  • In 2011 it is estimated that 14,300 women and men in Australia will be diagnosed with breast cancer, making it the   most common cancer for women.

    To reduce the psychological impact on those living with breast cancer, their families and communities through the provision of a national network of quality retreats provided at no accommodation cost.  

    Our Mission:

    To provide sanctuaries to nurture those facing the challenges of living with breast cancer.
