Bendigo Braves urge fans to turn out for Mother’s Day clash

Thursday, May 9, 2019

The Bendigo Braves are urging fans to turn out with their mums this Sunday to celebrate Mother’s Day in support of The OTIS Foundation.

As part of its NBL1 clash against the Geelong Supercats this Sunday, Braves player Bianca Dufelmeier has shared her personal thoughts on the importance of the partnership between The OTIS Foundation and the Bendigo Braves, “I think everyone has been touched by the effects of breast cancer, and as such, it’s so important that we support The OTIS Foundation and the great work they do.” Ms Dufelmeier said.

The OTIS Foundation’s Fundraising and Events Manager, Amanda Mitchell, said that it was great to see two of Bendigo’s premier sporting teams declaring their support for the charity “To have both the men’s and the women’s Braves teams playing for OTIS this weekend is fantastic, because it reflects that breast cancer is a disease that not only affects women. Not only are 148 men expected to be diagnosed with the disease this year, but for every women diagnosed it affects those around her.” Ms Mitchell said.

“The OTIS Foundation gifts retreat accommodation stays to people affected by breast cancer." Ms Mitchell added.

While these are predominantly women, often it is the partner, children and loved ones who benefit most from the stay.

A Bendigo Braves one-off #800 jersey signed by both teams will be auctioned at half time of the Bendigo Bank Braves, along with a game raffle supported by event sponsor Brazilian Beauty.

The Bendigo Braves Mother’s Day clash against the Geelong Supercats will take place this Sunday, 12 May at the Bendigo Stadium. The Champions IGA Lady Braves match tips off at 12 noon with the Bendigo Bank Braves game tipping off at 2pm.
