Lauren has a background in the media industry and Corporate Affairs. As well as recently completing her MBA, Lauren is currently in a senior strategy role at the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.Ranging from diverse backgrounds, our Board members are exceptional in their dedication, passion and commitment to grow the OTIS Foundation and fulfil Judy Burley’s vision.

Andrew Barling (Founder)

With Judy’s vision – to enable those living with breast cancer to benefit from the restorative power of nature – firmly in mind, Andrew founded The OTIS Foundation in 2000. Attributing the organisation’s success to the community from which it grew, Andrew believes Otis delivers a “warm and caring personal gift” to those in need. Andrew is now remarried with a son, and works as a general/thoracic surgeon in private practice.

Nigel McGuckian (Chair)

Nigel joined the OTIS Board in 2014, offering a business focussed skill set from his background in business consulting, training, project management, governance and facilitation. Nigel is passionate about ensuring that OTIS has strong governance and leadership to ensure the organisation can sustain future growth.

Sandy Dikschei

Sandy joined her brother-in-law Andrew on the Board in 2004 to honour Judy’s vision, and to help her grieve the loss of her beloved sister. Believing that The OTIS Foundation has already “evolved into something far greater than Jude probably thought possible,” Sandy says she wants her family to carry Judy’s vision long into the future. Sandy is a registered midwife, lactation consultant and nurse serving on the board as a family representative and is co-owner of Blue Wren Cabin at Towong.

Sophie Daley 

Sophie is a recent marketing and management graduate of La Trobe University in Bendigo who posses a Bachelor of Business. Sophie,  who joined the OTIS Board in 2015 as a youth Board member, is now completing her post graduate studies as a Masters by Management (Research) where her field of concern is directed to management with a specific interest in social issues.. Sophie brings a wealth of youth-specific knowledge, with a focus on critical social-media skills.

Elspeth Humphries

Motivated by Judy’s dream and her own breast cancer diagnosis in 1998, Elspeth joined the Board in 2010. She believes every guest who has stayed in an OTIS retreat has been “touched by the care and generosity of those who made it happen – and is heartened by this gift to their wellbeing”. Elspeth is an early childhood specialist with more than 30 year’ experience as a teacher, tertiary lecturer, consultant and co-owner of Creekside at Thredbo.

Kerryn Hamilton

Kerryn Hamilton is a Chartered Accountant who is employed as a Client Manager with MGR Accountants, where she has worked for 24 years. Kerryn joined the OTIS Board in 2016 as a way to put back into the community and is particularly proud of the fact that OTIS supports women’s emotional well-being. Kerryn is the mother of two grown boys, and lives on a small property in Strathfieldsaye (just outside Bendigo) with her husband.  In her role with MGR, Kerryn works closely with business and medical clients and is looking forward to using her skills to enrich the operations of The OTIS Foundation.

Richard Burley

Richard is a Development Manager with infrastructure developer and investor, Plenary Group. He has served on the Board as a family representative (appointed August 2004).

Richard's involvement with The OTIS Foundation goes back to the early days, in the months after his sister; Judy Burley; passed away and brother in law, Andrew Barling, and many others were working hard to realise the vision that Judy had for OTIS.

Following several years living with his family in Vancouver, British Columbia, Richard has returned to live in Melbourne. He returned to the OTIS Board, looking forward to helping take The OTIS Foundation 

Lisa Farrar

Lisa joined the Board of The OTIS Foundation in 2017. She has a background in international business, government, higher and vocational education and is currently a School Manager with the Monash Rural Health at Monash University. 

Lisa is currently undertaking her MBA at Melbourne University and offers expertise in the areas of strategy, marketing and stakeholder relations. 

Lauren Andrews

Lauren is a Regional & Rural Affairs Strategist with the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. Lauren joined the OTIS Board in 2017 and brings with her a background in the media industry and Corporate Affairs. As well as recently completing her MBA, Lauren is interested in giving back in her role on the Board of The OTIS Foundation.

Anyone who has faced the challenges of living with breast cancer is eligible to stay at an OTIS retreat, along with their partners, family or friends.
