Cape to Cape Track for the Otis Foundation and my mum

I’m going to be walking the Cape to Cape Track in Western Australia at the end of August to raise money for the OTIS foundation. This charity provides people with breast cancer and their loved ones with a retreat stay at no cost to them to give them all time to relax and just be with each other. Sometimes the gift of quality time is the best thing you can give.

This is a cause that is very close to home for me. My mum was first diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 11 and in October of last year it had returned, and she was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

My mum left this world on 1/05/2021 at 11.23pm. She died from complications from surgery. There's always risks with surgery but you never really think the worst will happen. Multiple things went wrong and her body could no longer fight after getting chemo since October, her only break for radiation. My dad and her had two holidays booked and so many future plans. The radiation and chemo had worked better than anyone ever thought possible and she had been celebrating only in April. It was so unexpected and a big shock to everyone. She never got those last moments with her loved ones. It makes this mean even more. I want to help give as many people fighting breast cancer some much needed quality time with the people they love, because in the end it's all that really matters and we all wish we could have more of. So, if you can donate it would mean the world to me no matter how small - every bit counts. Thank you so much! <3
